RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY


Saudi Friends Engineering & Construction Company (SFEC) Ltd. must ensure the company's safety and accident prevention policies and clearly understood by all employees and sub- contractors personnel. The duties and responsibilities of the employee supervisor and the management must be stated in writing by the company's management.

All employees should satisfactorily be responsible for their job, and should be aware that their safety record will be taken into account during performance appraisal. The main responsibilities of various member of the construction team are cited in the following:

Site Manager

  • Shall be responsible for safety, fire prevention during construction period.
  • He must know the requirements of the Saudi Arabian government work men's regulation, and ensure that they are observed.
  • Shall provide written instruction of safe work method, explain the sequence of operation, outline potential hazards at each stage and indicated precaution to be adopted.
  • Create safety awareness by promoting safety meeting , presentation, open forum discussin and by implementing safety training. Shall ensure that all accidents must be reported to the Client.

Construction Manager:

  • Shall assist the Site Manager and direct the field supervisor for safety.
  • Shall preside over the safety committee in the absence of the Site Manager
  • He must know the Saudi Arabian government workmen's regulation
  • Shall set a good example

Site Safety Manager

  • The site Safety Manager shall assist the Site Manager to ensure the safety requirements or needs.
  • Understand the Saudi Arabian government work men's rules and regulation.
  • Inspect the work site daily to report and correct unsafe act and unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meeting for all field supervisor and personnel's on site.
  • Attend weekly construction safety meeting on the construction site with other subcontractors.
  • Keep permanent record of all types of injuries, fires, motor vehicle, accident and properly damages and crane / heavy equipment accidents which have occurred at the job site.
  • Keep a record of every weekly safety tool box meeting on site completed with subject discussed.
  • Shall set a good example.

Field Engineers/ Field Supervisor

  • Shall organize site so that work is carried out to the required standard with minimum risk to men, equipment and materials.
  • Be familiar of work permit methods and procedures.
  • Shall give precise instruction on responsibilities for correct work method.
  • Shall plan and provide good housekeeping.
  • Shall coordinate with other sub- contractor on site to avoid any confusion about areas of responsibilities.
  • Make sure the suitable personals protective equipment is available and its used.
  • Cooperate with site safety supervisor by acting their recommendation.
  • Shall set a good example.

Foreman:

  • Shall conduct daily toolbox meeting with workers.
  • Conduct daily work site inspection to identify and correct any existing unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure the new employees are properly instructed in precaution to be taken before they are allowed to start work.
  • Documents and coordinate the safety inspection activities and findings with the job site safety supervisor.
  • Report accidents , unsafe conditions and defective equipment to immediate supervisor.
  • Set a good personnel example.
